The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) wants to be a leading player in the promotion of citizen science in Catalonia. The University's libraries work closely with other areas and services to achieve this. The University organises conferences and training to encourage citizen science among the research community, being the first university in Spain to publish an exclusive portal dedicated to citizen science. The UPC's Open Science Roadmap 2025 establishes detailed goals and actions for the maximum integration of citizen science in the institutional strategy. The UPC is committed to the development of citizen science by fostering the creation of new projects based on collaboration and innovation from a social, inclusive and transformative perspective.

Published in 2021 by Springer, this open access book offers an extensive compilation of research on citizen science. It includes the participation of research groups from several countries, including Open Systems at the University of Barcelona.
